So I'm going to Europe in September and October for 5 weeks with a buddy of mine, and I'm super pumped. I was wondering if any of the weekend crowd had any tips of things to do, places to go, and sights to see.

Already on the list is Oktoberfest, and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Any other suggestions?

I did ring, VW Autostadt, DTM, phaeton tour, Audi, Stuttgart and Le Mans. The two that stuck with me the most were the Ring and Le Mans. Damn.

The Med coast from Monaco, to Nice and a bit west are very nice. Some great roads, amazing food and cool things to see.

Find an F1 or WEC race and go.

Paris

Triere in Germany is a cool town. Was once a roman capital so it has all the expected roman ruins. About an hour west of the Nurburgring if I remember correctly. Also home of the German WRC rally. Luxu, berg is about 30 minutes beyond that and worth a visit. Pretty town.

We're driving a loop, so Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, Spain (and Morocco for a day), Paris, and England.

If Oktoberfest and 'Ring are already on the list, this place http://www.technik-museum.de/en might fit as well. Both museums aren't far from each other and they are half-way between Stuttgart and the 'Ring. In Sinsheim they have a crapton of cars and other stuff and you can step inside a Concorde and it's Russian counterpart.

The Oktoberfest, well I guess you have to do it once in your live. I live quite close to Munich, but I usually tend to avoid it.

Thanks!

Also, we were considering bringing a GSM cellphone and buying a prepaid sim card for it when we got there. Would we have to buy a different sim card for every country, or are there cellphone providers that cover most of Europe?

All providers work together sort of. So your French sim card will work all over Europe, for example. It's just that they will charge you considerably more when you use a sim in another country. These fees were hilariously high in the past, but the EU is planning to do something about that, and most providers have lowered these roaming costs considerably already.
